The 2017/2018 season of the popular World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit continues with a stop at Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel and Casino in Cherokee, North Carolina. Ring-event action kicks off Thursday, April 12, and runs for twelve days, with the $1,675 Buy-In Main Event offering $1 million in guarantees.
This is the third time in the 2017/2018 season Cherokee hosts events from WSOP Circuit and a total of 12 official WSOP Circuit Event rings will be rewarded until April 23. Those who decide to take part will also play for more than $3 million in guarantees, which will be granted throughout the twelve events in the series. There will be as many as 150 tournament tables and LIVE cash games will be held on up to 55 tables. The festival offers several different formats for the games, including No-Limit Hold’em, Omaha 8 or Better, and Pot Limit Omaha, as well as special Ladies and Seniors events, which will cost only $250 to enter.
The majority of tournaments during the 12-day festival feature a buy-in of $365, with only one event having a $580 entry. Another exception is, of course, the Main Event which comes with a buy-in of $1,675 and an attractive guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. It starts at 11:00 a.m. local time on Friday, April 20, and the player who wins the trophy will also earn a seat to the 2018 Global Casino Championship. The current festival at Harrah’s Cherokee will award players points based on cashing in the qualifying events. Points form the ranking on the WSOP Circuit leaderboard.
2018 Global Casino Championship
The festival which starts Thursday, April 12, is the 24th series in the 2017/2018 WSOP Circuit. Only two more stops will follow before the end of the season, with the first one scheduled for April 26 – May 7 at the Horseshoe Baltimore. Harrah’s New Orleans will then host the last festival of the circuit from May 10 through May 21. The finale comes with the Global Casino Championship, which is an exclusive, invitation-only tournament. These are the events in the Domestic Tour, while the WSOP Circuit International Tour has one remaining stop – it will be held from May 13 through May 29 at Sochi Casino and Resort in Sochi, Russia.
The prestigious 2018 Global Casino Championship is the culmination of the 2017/2018 season but it also represents the start of the next season. This year, it will take place from August 7 to August 9 at Harrah’s Cherokee in the picturesque Smoky Mountains. The Circuit Finale will award at least $1 million in guarantees and the winner will also receive a WSOP gold bracelet. Free seats are granted to the Main Event winners of all 26 festivals during the season, including the current tournament at Harrah’s Cherokee. In addition, free entries to the Championship are received by those with the Casino Champion title – these are the players earning the most series points during each stop of the circuit.
